I’ve had to wear vision correction since 2nd grade being about -5 ou. Since my early 30s I’ve been about right eye -7, and -5.50. This was something I’ve been on the fence for for a long time. The whole experience at Wang Institute has been great. Called last Monday nervously and was greeted by Katie over the phone. She calmed my nerves, and was able to get me an appointment that Wednesday to get an evaluation with the possible SMILE procedure. My husband and I came up from Knoxville and stayed at the hotel next door Aloft, (use the parking garage, and not the hotel valet). We came and did the papers and my first person was Scott, who is absolutely fantastic, personable, and knows his stuff. We had some fun conversing on eye stuff. He did most of the pre-testing and checking to make sure my eyes were a good match for the surgery. The next gentleman, whose name escapes me but he was also really cool, did the vision test and talked with the dr about how I was wanting to be slightly under corrected to delay presbyopia. Between them, I qualified.Cameron then came in with the pricing options paper to select from. I og wasn’t going to do the plugs but they come packaged in #2 along with lid cleaning (I advise both but the lid cleaning is ticklish as heck). Scott came back and high fived me about being eligible.Amanda was awesome. She has been doing this for over 5 years and super efficient at eyelid cleaning, setting up the eyelid warming glasses, and laying out the instructions for after the Smile surgery. The Smile machine likes it quite cold, so might be advised to wear appropriate clothing.Dr Jones has expert precision and made sure to let me know what was happening during the whole time. His assistant did keep up with the prep and the countdown time per eye. I found that helpful. 25 seconds per eye and you just need to listen and follow directions.Went back to the hotel and started the drops a wee bit early at an hour and half and kept a timer to keep it correct. Next day went for checking and am 20/70 (-1.50) in my right and 20/25 in my left, which was still the same with my first post op yesterday at my optometrist where I work. Probably will do the drive to do at least one post op back to Wang Institute. Highly recommend to use them over any other options, and Smile over old school LASIK for safety and efficiency. More
