Wang Vision Institute offers a variety of corrective lenses. One of our most popular lenses is the Toric Lens. In fact, Wang Vision Institute was the first center in the state to perform the Toric Implantable Contact Lens procedure.

What is a Toric Lens?

The function of a Toric Lens is to correct astigmatism on the cornea.

Astigmatism is a common eye disease, which an estimated one in three people suffer from. The natural shape of the eye is circular like a basketball. However, those who suffer from astigmatism have eyes shaped like a football or an ellipse. Symptoms of astigmatism include blurred vision, eyestrain, and headaches.

What is the Process?

If your doctor determines that the Toric Lens is right for you, they will begin the straightforward process of inserting the astigmatism corrective lens. The procedure takes less than 30 minutes to complete. A talented team of doctors will use a laser to create small incisions in the eye. Your natural lens will then be replaced with the Toric Lens. This astigmatism corrective lens is made of biocompatible materials that sync with your natural body chemistry. The Toric Lens is noninvasive and so comfortable that only your eye surgeon will be able to detect them.

Once the Toric Lens procedure is complete, clear and sharp vision will be restored to the patient. In addition, the eyes will be protected from harmful UV rays and nighttime vision will be improved.

This procedure is a popular option among patients who don't qualify for another refractive laser treatment or for those who don't wish to have multiple vision surgeries performed simultaneously.
