The First EVO Performed at Wang Vision
The first EVO new Implantable Contact Lens (EVO ICL) in middle Tennessee was performed by Dr. Ming Wang, Harvard & MIT (MD); PhD (laser physics). The surgery was performed at Wang Vision Institute in Nashville, TN on Tuesday, 5/17/22 at 9am. EVO ICL is a state-of-the-art vision procedure which was recently FDA-approved and can offer a new solution for those have high range of prescription.
The surgery was performed at Wang Vision Institute in Nashville, TN on Tuesday, 5/17/22 at 9am. EVO ICL is a state-of-the-art vision procedure which was recently FDA- and can offer a new solution for those who want to break free from the inconvenience of contact lenses and/or eyeglasses.
“This is wonderful news for our patients who have very poor eyesight and are dependent on thick glasses or contact lenses. We at Wang Vision Institute are so excited to be the first in middle Tennessee to introduce the EVO Implantable Contact Lens,” said Wang, who is one of the few laser eye surgeons in the world who holds a doctorate degree in laser physics. Dr. Wang has introduced most of the laser vision correction technologies to Tennessee throughout the past 25 years.
“By having the EVO contact lens implanted inside your eyes, you will no longer need to put in and take out regular contact lenses every day. Patients with very high prescriptions are excited about this new technology, thus this procedure does not require the removal of any corneal tissue in which would be suitable for patients with thin corneas.” Wang added. Implantable Contact Lenses can remove higher degrees of nearsightedness (myopia) than other procedures such as LASIK or ZEISS SMILE, with fewer risks of night vision issues and severe dry eyes.
EVO ICL may also be a great option for patients who have been told they are not LASIK candidates due to various prescription issues or other corneal measurements. Compared with traditional ICL, the new EVO Implantable Contact Lens has many advantages, including a decreased risk of developing glaucoma, a decreased incidence of cataract formation and a reduced need for preparatory laser procedures. The EVO ICL procedure allows correction of nearsightedness with excellent quality of vision during both daytime and nighttime.
“In this Covid pandemic, since implantable contact lens surgery enables patients to discontinue wearing contact lenses, this benefit may also reduce the chance of infection since they are no longer touching their eyes day and night, as the virus enters the body through the eyes, nose and mouth,” Wang shared.
The first EVO Implantable Contact Lens patient is 31-year-old Mrs. Brooke Mego, who had extremely poor eyesight all her life. She cried after her EVO surgery, and exclaimed “I am so happy, I had never been able to see this well in my life! God is good”!
