Laser Medspa FAQ

Wang Vision Cataract and LASIK Center, Nashville, Tennessee

What laser do you use?

We use a Cutera Coolglide Xeo Yag 1064 nm laser because of its excellent safety profile. It is good for all skin tones and types including tanned skin. The CoolGlide Xeo combines the proven effectiveness of Cutera's long-pulse Nd:YAG laser technology with the next generation in pulsed light treatments. With one system, we offer permanent hair reduction on all skin types, a complete range of vascular treatments and the next-generation in non-ablative combination skin therapy.

Is there any downtime to the procedures?

NO! Skin may be a bit red after the treatment but you are able to re-apply make-up immediately.

What is BOTOX ® Cosmetic?

It is a natural Purified Protein produced by Clostridium botulinum bacterium.

How does BOTOX ® Cosmetic work?

It blocks the release of the chemical in the muscular junction. The receptors re-establish and complete muscle activity returns 2-4 months after the first treatment. Increased longevity of the product is expected over repeated treatments.

What is laser genesis?

Laser genesis targets the microvasculature of the skin while providing heat to the dermis to stimulate collagen growth. Laser Genesis is a unique non-ablative procedure that promotes healthy looking skin including reduction of diffuse redness, reduced pore size and improved skin tone and texture. The procedure creates a gentle warming of the skin and is truly a "no downtime" procedure.

What can I do for Pigmented Lesions?

Advanced Pulsed Light Technology is used to reverse signs of sun damage. As many as 90% of patients age 65 years or older have solar lentigines, according to an article in Archives of Dermatology. These sun spots or age spots, as they are commonly called, are caused by chronic sun exposure. The CoolGlide Xeo's unique pulsed light handpiece has been optimized for treating solar lentigines and age spots, while optimizing patient comfort and results.

What is the Titan™?

Titan™ is the first light-based solution for deep dermal heating. The Titan utilizes infrared light to heat deep dermal tissue, while sparing the epidermis through continuous cooling. In the United States , the Titan is approved for topical heating for the purpose of elevating tissue temperature for temporary increase in local circulation where applied. The effects of the treatment includes younger looking skin.

What about correction of facial and leg veins, sometimes called spirderveins?

Approximately 50% to 60% of men and women worldwide have unsightly leg veins. Facial telangiectasia and unsightly blood vessels on the face can affect both men and women. These can result from sun damage, smoking, heredity, hormones of other factors. While sclerotherapy is an option for the removal of superficial leg veins, there are known side effects, and some veins will not respond. WVI offers an effective, non-invasive removal of leg veins. Our CoolGlide systems can provide a safe and effective method of treatment for a wide range of leg veins and requires no painful injections.

Laser Hair Reduction/Hair Removal

Hair removal is one of the most popular laser-based aesthetic procedures since it can provide permanent reduction of unwanted hair. Lasers are well suited for the removal of unwanted hair because they can be used as a non-invasive method to disable the hair structure without damaging the surrounding skin. Numerous hair follicles can be treated simultaneously allowing for rapid coverage of large areas.
